Loving Your Enemies

Matthew 5:43-48

1.  Why is loving others such a big deal?

Because this is the evidence that we are children of God. (45)

You are received in the kingdom by:

1.  Coming as poverty stricken to the sufficiency of Jesus

2.  Coming as sin-sick to Jesus the physician.

3.  Coming as a helpless little child to Jesus as the only one who can provide for you.

2.  Who is my enemy? 43-44

            2a.  Those who persecute you.

2b.  Those who oppose you.

2c.  The person who does not love you. 46

3.  How am I supposed to love my enemy?

            3a.  Greet them. V 47

3b.  Meet their practical needs.  V 45b

3c.  Pray for them.  44

4.  How can I possibly do this?
