A Call to Faithfulness and Hope

Mark 13:1-37

 

 

1.  A call to faithfulness in the face of difficulty.  5-13

 

            There will be false messiahs.

 

            There will be wars.

 

            There will be persecutions

 

            The Gospel will be preached to all nations

Colossians 1:5-6; Colossians 1:23; Romans 1:8;2 Timothy 4:17  

 

2.  A compassionate warning about coming destruction (14-23)

Daniel (9:27; 11:31; 12:11)

 

 

3.  Declaration of Judgment on Jerusalem  (24-27)

  

 

4.  We are to remain diligent and hopeful.  (32ff)

 

            We are stewards not owners. 34

           

            Each one of us has his own gifts. (34b)

 

            Anticipation produces faithful living. 

             

 

 

Daily purpose to cling to God.

 

 

Daily submit to renovation of the heart in order to carry out this purpose. (Scripture-Rom 12:1-2)

 

 

Daily be on guard against things that threaten this purpose. (Do not yield your members as instruments of sin. Ro 6:13)
