1.  Hypocrisy on display. v. 1

 

            Their formal declaration. 

           

            They treat righteousness as the criminal.

             Mark 10: 33

 

            They arrogantly expect Pilate to serve their ends.

             John 18:30, 32; Luke 23:2

 

 

2.  The Majesty of Jesus on Display

 

Perfect self-composure   Heb 1:9

             

Perfect fulfillment of prophecy.

            Isaiah 53:6

           

Perfect Example to all suffering saints

1 Peter 2:22-23

 

 

The wretched nature of the human heart devoid of saving grace but immersed in religion.
