Sermon
Outline
Storing up Treasure
Matthew 6:19-24
1. There are two
kinds of treasure, but only one is lasting.
3. There are two
masters, but only one is worth serving. 24
So anybody who divides his allegiance tbetween God and mammon has already given it to mammon, since God can be served only with an entire and exclusive devotion. [Johnt Stott, The Message of the Sermon on the Mount, p. 158]
Is 42:8 I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.
Is 48:11 For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name [2] be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.
Real treasure cannot be taken away, so we do not have to be anxious.
3.2 Christians are not exempt from responsibility for others.
3.3 Christians are not exempt from experiencing trouble.
