Do Not Fear
Matthew 1:18-25

What were the signs that would identify Messiah to the Jews?

1. Messiah would be born of a woman Gen 3:15

2. He was to be born of a virgin. Isaiah 7:14

3. He was to be born in Bethlehem. Micah 5:2

4. He was to be preceded by John the Baptizer. Malachi 3:1

Why was the virgin birth a big deal?

1. Not because it was the primary cause or source of Jesus' deity.

2. It was probably not the cause of Jesus' sinlessness.

3. Because it was the means by which God became man.

Since God has drawn near, since he has become man we can say:

1. Do not fear—God is trustworthy.

2. Do not fear—God is worthy of obedience.

3. Do not fear—God is with us we can trust and obey him.
