How Do We Wait for the King?
Daniel 8:25-27
1. Be aware of the strategy of the enemy. (26)
1.1 He is deceitful
1.2 He is destructive
1.3 He is defiant
1.4 He is defeated
2. Have compassion on those who are under Gods coming judgment (27a)
3. Be involved with the culture in redeeming ways. (27b) [Be about the kings business]
4. Be busy about the Kings Business
4.1 Being faithful in what you do is being faithful to God.
4.2 Hoping in and long for Christ alone.
Dont let Christs imminent return cause you to be idle.
Dont let Christs far off return lull you into wrong liberties or faulty complacency.
Encouragements
Where the enemy is deceitful, Jesus is the truth (Jn 14:6)
Where the enemy is destructive, Jesus is restoring all things (Ac 10:36-38)
Where the enemy is defiant, Jesus is submissive to the Father (Jn 4:34; 5:30; 6:38)
When the
enemy is defeated, it is because Jesus is the victor. (
Live richly, therefore, while you wait: Serve the King, weep for the lost, love your neighbor, fellowship with the Saints, and long for the day when these acts of ovedience will be done and the ultimate, eternal service of praise and worship will begin.
Ian Duguid, Daniel, p. 147
