Stand Firm
Daniel 11
Things we have learned about apocalyptic literature in the Bible:
1. Apocalyptic literature is understandable.
2. You cannot reduce the imagery to a singular period in history.
3. You cannot reduce numbers to their literal enumeration.
4. The overarching purpose is to speak to Christs
5. Another primary purpose is to comfort Gods people.
6. The literature is designed to spur us on to faithfulness.
1. Daniel 11 speaks
accurately to ancient history
2. Daniel 11 speaks to the ebb and flow of world history and the emptiness of worldly goals.
Implications:
2.1They must patiently persevere until God established his kingdom finally and fully.
2.2 They must also
resist the
temptation to use the worlds devices to accomplish Gods work.
3. Daniel 11 calls us to consider how we will live in light of what we know is coming in the future.
3.1 We are to believe and live faithfully.
3.2 We are to teach others around us. 11:33
3.3 We are to pray.
